Amy

Hi, my name is Amy Gilligan. I was born in Dubuque, I’m one of those quintessential fourth or fifth generation Dubuquers. Working here at the Telegraph Herald and telling the stories of our community has been a rare opportunity that a lot of journalists don’t get. I didn’t quite realize that is something I wanted to do until I started doing, and now it’s hard to imagine doing that anywhere else.

I am a mom, I have four kids, two dogs, and kind of a crazy household. I’m the editor of my hometown paper – a job I’ve always wanted to do. I’m a writer first and I’ve always loved to write in my own voice. I’ve been afforded that opportunity here and that’s been informed over many years as a witness to change in our community and change and growth in my own life. Both on a personal level and professional level, I’m a storyteller.
